Advanced ROI Optimization for Interactive Portfolios
Managing a small number of publications effectively is relatively easy, but the challenges grow rapidly
as a portfolio gets larger. Questions arise as to where productivity is located, and where ROI is being
generated.
One approach often employed by large publishers is to have each publication manage itself as a
micro-business within their organization. This has the advantage that each publication can be held to
account as a discrete center for ROI generation.
This approach becomes less effective when cross media and multi-channel publishing strategies are pursued however,
especially when there is extensive syndication of content between publications. It then becomes unclear who
produced the content leveraged by individual publications, and similarly what cross-portfolio revenues
are generated by content from particular publications and creativity groups.
The purpose of System 7 EPA, which is supplied as a tailored solution, is to enable publishers
to wrest meaningful business data from the complexity, enabling publishers to answer questions such as "who is
creating my content?", "how many articles of news, features and reviews are being created every month?",
"what revenues are the different types of content generating online?".
This is achieved by hooking into the APIs of System 7 CMS and System 7 PMS, and interrogating data that
they record.
